State moves to intervene in La Canada housing development dispute

The city says it was “substantially compliant” with the housing element law. It pointed to ordinances passed before the developer submitted its proposal for the mixed-use project at issue in the case.

Gov. Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta moved to intervene in an affordable housing case against the City of La Canada Flintridge.

A housing group sued the city in September, claiming it violated state laws when it refused to approve an 80-unit development.
