University of San Diego wants athlete’s hazing charges dismissed
The plaintiff “does not allege that any University of San Diego coach, assistant, volunteer, or employee participated in the hazing or knew about the events … before they occurred, let alone that they supported, encouraged or approved them,” Edward Patrick Swan Jr. of Jones Day argued.




The University of San Diego seeks dismissal of most of a liability lawsuit by a former quarterback who claimed he was subject to sexually abusive hazing. It is one of at least two lawsuits filed after the university announced this summer that it was investigating the claims, sharing information with the police and had shut down all team activities.
