Girardi’s son-in-law must answer to suspension effort

Although the bar court abated two disciplinary cases against David R. Lira on self-incrimination grounds due to his pending prosecution in a Chicago federal court, the judge said those reasons don’t necessarily apply in an involuntary inactive enrollment proceeding.

Following a three-month battle between State Bar prosecutors and former Girardi Keese attorney David R. Lira, a State Bar Court judge denied his motion to pause the proceeding that could temporarily suspend his law license.
