Federal judge enjoins state ban on handguns in certain public areas

Despite repeated inquiries from the U.S. District Judge Cormac Carney, the Department of Justice attorney could not pinpoint how SB 2 afforded people the right to self-defense in public places.

A federal judge in Santa Ana on Wednesday enjoined Attorney General Rob Bonta from enforcing a law that was scheduled to go into effect Jan. 1 to make it tougher to obtain concealed carry permits and prohibit handguns in certain public areas.
