Fiji Water claims San Diego coffee shop infringed trademark

“In an effort to piggyback on the fame and goodwill of the FIJI brand, defendants have commenced using the Fiji trademark for coffee, the plaintiff’s attorney, Michael M. Vasseghi of Roll Law Group PC, wrote.

Fiji Water claimed the owner of San Diego’s Fiji Coffee shop infringed two of the water company’s trademarks in the title and description of his coffee products, a complaint filed in federal court.

The shop owner said Thursday the plaintiff can’t own a trademark on the words “Fiji” or “coffee.”
