Meta denies knowing its platforms collect children’s data
Arguing the content on Instagram and Facebook have broad appeal to adults and teens as well as children, Meta’s counsel said the states are overly relying on “cherry-picked snippets from content created and posted by third parties” to argue the social media platforms are directed at children, rather than coming to a determination based on the actual content on the platforms.




Instagram and Facebook do not target children and are meant for general audiences, Meta Platforms Inc. argued in a bid to dismiss claims that it violated consumer protection statutes and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998.
