Criminal defense attorney denies 22 charges of cheating clients

“The facts on which some or all of the counts … are based constitute mistake, inadvertence, neglect or error and do not rise to the level of misconduct or gross negligence,” attorneys for David J. Cohen stated in a court filing Thursday.

Bay Area criminal defense attorney David J. Cohen, a former chair of the State Bar Criminal Law Advisory Commission, denied all 22 disciplinary counts accusing him of overcharging and misappropriating hundreds of thousands of dollars intended for an incarcerated client’s trust account.
