Part of state ban on required arbitration waivers is enjoined
The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals granted a preliminary injunction blocking the law last February, finding that it is preempted by the Federal Arbitration Act. Attorney General Rob Bonta conceded.




A federal judge has permanently enjoined portions of a 2019 California law that sought to ban arbitration as a condition of employment after the 9th Circuit said they were preempted. But one noted opponent of so-called forced arbitration said there has been significant progress, even as he criticized Attorney General Rob Bonta for not trying harder to defend AB 51.
