Proposed class says Fandom illegally tracked IP addresses

The lawsuit claimed the company’s practice of installing two trackers on users’ internet browsers constitutes a “pen register” in violation of California’s Invasion of Privacy Act because it tracks IP addresses.

Fandom Inc., the company behind the gaming news website Gamespot, was hit with a proposed class action in San Francisco County Superior Court accusing it of illegally tracking users’ IP addresses to create targeted advertisements.

Gamespot is one of the most popular gaming and entertainment news outlets with a combined 12.15 million followers and subscribers across X, Instagram and YouTube.
