‘Gluten free’ foods at Philz Coffee are not gluten free, suit claims

The lead plaintiff claims to have suffered a “severe allergy attack” after consuming a gluten free item from one of the company’s San Francisco locations.

The lead plaintiff in a proposed class action against Philz Coffee Inc. is seeking an injunction requiring the Oakland based coffee chain to warn customers about the presence of gluten in its “gluten free” line of foods.

According to the complaint, filed on Jan. 23 in San Francisco Superior by Shalini Dogra of Dogra Law Group, the lead plaintiff suffered a “severe allergy attack” after consuming a gluten free item from one of the company’...
