An appellate court's ruling that overturned VirnetX Holding Corp.'s $503 million patent infringement verdict against Apple Corp. will stand, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Tuesday.

The decision denied review of decisions by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit that the two key patents, covering virtual private networks, were invalid.
