Sterigenics accused of emitting cancer causing chemical

Sterigenics, which has operated the facility in Vernon, has agreed to pay hundreds of millions of dollars to settle similar allegations concerning facilities in Illinois and Georgia.

Medical sterilization company Sterigenics is accused in a lawsuit of emitting ethylene oxide at its Vernon facility, which the plaintiffs claim caused a dozen people living nearby to develop cancer.
