Silicon Valley companies want gambling apps case dismissed

The case involves a claim that the platforms processed illegal transactions for unlawful gambling, which falls outside of Section 230 protections.

Attorneys for Silicon Valley technology companies told a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel Monday that a class action should be dismissed because their hosting of gambling apps is protected by Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, the pivotal 1996 federal law that immunizes online platforms for publishing third-party content.
