Apple engineer's family settles wrongful death suit with Tesla

The settlement amount was not made public, but Tesla denied the plaintiffs' accusations that it sold a defective vehicle.

The family of an Apple Inc. engineer who fatally crashed his Tesla Model X while using the autopilot feature and playing a video game agreed to settle a wrongful death lawsuit against Tesla Inc. just as trial was about to begin.

One of Tesla's attorneys, Thomas P. Branigan of Bowman and Brooke LLP, confirmed the settlement in his declaration filed Monday in Santa Clara County Superior Court, but did not disclose the settlement amount.
