Trial challenging FTB's minimum tax law set for December

The California Franchise Tax Board's interpretation of what constitutes a company "doing business" in the state is being challenged as too broad.

A San Francisco judge on Wednesday set a Dec. 2 trial date for a pair of certified class actions challenging the California Franchise Tax Board's $800 minimum tax for out-of-state businesses and left open the possibility to bifurcate the proceedings.
