Munger Tolles accused of retaliation over remote work requests

A lawsuit filed in Los Angeles claims that the former employee was included in a round of layoffs in retaliation for requesting accommodations and protected leave.

A former legal secretary at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP claims she was terminated in retaliation for requesting leave to care for an elderly parent under the California Family Rights Leave Act.

The plaintiff, Gigi Ruegsegger, worked for the company in two stints, from 1989 to 1997 and from October 2004 through June 2023, when the law firm ended her employment. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleges seven causes of action including discrimination, failur...
