$2.8B NCAA settlement not enough, some athletes say
Even if the lead plaintiffs' counsel amended their complaint to appoint a class representative, the settlement framework still does not grant adequate relief to athletes on a partial scholarship, Korein Tillery LLC partner Garrett R. The federal judge in Oakland overseeing a groundbreaking $2.8 billion name, image and likeness settlement against the NCAA expressed doubts over a key part of the agreement which limits booster payments to college athletes. NCAA attorneys say the clause is essential to the deal.
