Intuit, H&R Block accuse each other of false advertising
Intuit's counsel at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr LLP have accused H&R Block of misquoting TurboTax prices at nearly double their actual cost and wrongly claiming that more than 5 million TurboTax consumers switched to H&R Block. Meanwhile, H&R Block's attorneys at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP have accused Intuit of falsely promising customers a comprehensive expert review of their tax filings with no mistakes.
Three months before the 2025 tax filing season starts, Intuit Inc. and H&R Block kicked off their dueling bids for a preliminary injunction Monday in federal court in San Jose. Both tax providers have accused the rival company of running false advertisements to lure customers away.
