Users claim Forbes Media shares their personal information
The putative class action complaint, filed on Dec. 20 in the Northern District of California, claimed that IP addresses can be combined with other information collected to "create a detailed profile of a person's online activity."




Users of websites owned by Forbes Media LLC accused the company of using pen registers and "trap and trace" techniques to surreptitiously collect and share their personal information with third parties. They claimed that the information included their LinkedIn profiles and IP addresses.
Some of the information collecting mentioned in the complaint is disclosed on the Forbes website under its privacy policy.
