California schools could become immigration policy flashpoint in 2025

Sanctuary school bills face uncertain future amid shifting political dynamics.

Schools could be the next immigration battleground when the California Legislature reconvenes in January. But a slightly diminished Democratic supermajority might not have the same appetite for sanctuary bills, and the inevitable legal battles that come with them, as they did in 2017.
