Circuit split deepens as California gun law ruling clashes with New York decision

Gun rights attorney C.D. "Chuck" Michel plans to petition the U.S. Supreme Court following the 9th Circuit's decision to uphold parts of California's "sensitive places" law, creating a divide with the 2nd Circuit's interpretation of a similar provision in a New York law. A legal expert questions whether the high court will intervene soon.

A leading gun rights attorney said Thursday he would seek a writ of certiorari with the U.S. Supreme Court after the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied en banc review of a preliminary injunction upholding parts of California's law barring the carrying of firearms at some "sensitive places."
