Federal judge poised to rule on Trump's birthright citizenship order

California Attorney General Rob Bonta and other state leaders have filed lawsuits challenging President Trump's executive order targeting birthright citizenship. While he bypassed the 9th Circuit, it remains central to the constitutional showdown, with the first hearing set in Washington state this week.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta and 17 other states tried to avoid the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals by filing their lawsuit challenging President Donald Trump's executive order that attempts to revoke birthright citizenship in another circuit.

But as turns out, the San Francisco-based appellate court is not only still in the mix but may get the first crack at the constitutional question.
