Alaska Air faces class action over alleged wage violations

A complaint against Alaska Air claims the airline systematically underpays flight crew by failing to compensate for time spent on the ground between flights and rounding work hours in its favor. The suit, filed in San Francisco Superior Court, seeks restitution for potentially hundreds of affected employees in California, alleging violations of wage laws and unfair labor practices.

A putative class action was filed against Alaska Air that could see hundreds of other flight crew members join the dispute over payment of minimum wages and pay calculations.

The complaint filed by Christina M. Lucio of Emplaw LLP in the San Francisco Superior Court alleges three causes of action: failure to pay minimum wages, failure to furnish accurate itemized wage statements and violation of the Unfair Competition Law.
