Actor sues Paramount over 'Top Gun: Maverick' photo use
Actor Barry Tubb, who starred in the original Top Gun (1986), is suing Paramount Pictures, alleging the studio used a group photo of his character in Top Gun: Maverick without his consent or compensation. A federal judge is now weighing whether his breach of contract claim is enough to keep the case alive. Paramount argues that Tubb's 1985 contract applies only to the first film and that his image was not covered under Screen Actors Guild agreements.




A federal judge said Thursday he will weigh whether an actor who starred in the 1986 "Top Gun" movie has a valid breach of contract claim to keep alive his copyright lawsuit against Paramount Pictures over a photograph of him that he says was shown in the film's sequel without his permission.
