Weekend explosion may be added to class action against refinery

A law firm involved in a class action against Martinez Refinery might include a recent explosion in its lawsuit, citing toxic emissions affecting 40,000 residents. Health and property damages are central to the claims.

A law firm currently handling a class action lawsuit against a refinery -- where an explosion over the weekend released plumes of toxic smoke -- stated that it may incorporate this latest incident into the ongoing litigation.

A fire at the Martinez Refinery in Contra Costa County on Saturday, which injured six people and prompted warnings for residents in the affected area to stay inside, was caused by a leak of hydrocarbon material, according to company officials.
