LAPD officers sue over policy to assign Black officers to mayor's security 

The city of Los Angeles is faced with two lawsuits from four officers who objected to a former chief's allegedly assigning officers to protect the mayor because they are Black.

Two veteran LAPD officers have filed a whistleblower lawsuit accusing Los Angeles Police Department supervisors of retaliating when they raised concerns about an alleged directive from the former chief to staff the mayor's security detail exclusively with Black officers. 

They claim the alleged order by former Chief Michel Moore was meant to curry favor with Mayor Karen Bass, who is Black.
