Miwok Tribe sues to block $25M disbursement to rival faction
The California Valley Miwok Tribe is seeking a court order to stop the California Gambling Control Commission from distributing $25 million in tribal funds to a rival group amid a long-running leadership dispute. A Sacramento judge will consider the emergency request Wednesday, just two days before the scheduled payout.




The California Valley Miwok Tribe has sued to prevent the California Gambling Control Commission from giving $25 million collected from the tribe to "a group of individuals with disputed claims to membership and leadership of the Tribe." The emergency injunction being sought faces a Friday deadline.
