Friday was the first day of the Los Angeles County courts' new way of handling Notices of Settlement, to improve efficiency in the face of a 48% increase in unlimited civil filings in the past 17 years.

With unlimited civil filings increasing 48% since 2008 and still growing, the Superior Court of Los Angeles County will implement Friday a new procedure for handling Notices of Settlement in most civil cases to improve efficiency.
