9th Circuit revives 'Copshop' screenwriter's claims against managers

The 9th Circuit revived screenwriter Kurt McLeod's claims against Zero Gravity Management, alleging breach of duty for not disclosing 'Copshop's' $40 million budget increase after Gerard Butler joined.

A screenwriter for the 2021 movie "Copshop" who alleged his managers were legally obligated to renegotiate his deal once the film's budget significantly increased will be allowed to pursue the claims after an appellate panel revived the case.

On Thursday, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found U.S. District Judge Fred W. Slaughter erred when he dismissed writer Kurt McLeod's federal complaint in Santa Ana on summary judgment last year.
