Beverly Hills faces 3rd lawsuit from pro-housing nonprofit amid claims of evading state law

Californians for Homeownership alleges the city is violating the Housing Accountability Act by using application technicalities to skirt approval obligations.

The non-profit Californians for Homeownership has sued the city of Beverly Hills to compel approval of a proposed 27-unit multifamily residential project it claims was improperly denied.

The petition for a writ was filed under the Housing Accountability Act, which requires California cities without a housing element to approve mixed-income projects. Six of the units at 140 S. Camden Dr. are described as affordable. Developer Wilshire Camden LLC is a real party of interest.
