Justice Department asks Supreme Court to block injunction on Trump's federal layoffs plan

U.S. Solicitor General D. John Sauer filed an application Monday afternoon with the U.S. Supreme Court asking the justices for a stay on a San Francisco district judge's preliminary injunction blocking federal agencies from ordering large-scale firings and layoffs without congressional approval.
