Girardi son-in-law, David Lira, cleared of fraud, pleads to contempt
David Lira, former Girardi Keese attorney, pleads guilty to contempt in Chicago for failing to follow a court order to pay Lion Air crash victims, but fraud charges were dropped.
Federal fraud charges were dropped against Tom Girardi's son-in-law and former Girardi Keese attorney David R. Lira after he pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of criminal contempt of a court order that instructed him and his boss to swiftly pay the families of Lion Air crash victims.
The misappropriated settlement money was related to a deadly 2018 Boeing plane crash in Indonesia in which Girardi Keese helped negotiate and controlled the funds.
