Sonoma County drones illegally search for code violations, suit says

Sonoma County residents sue over warrantless drone surveillance by Permit Sonoma, alleging unconstitutional searches for code violations, seeking an injunction to require judicial warrants.

Three residents have filed a lawsuit in Sonoma County  Superior Court challenging the constitutionality of the county's alleged use of drones to fly over homes without warrants for civil code enforcement.

Filed by the ACLU of Northern California and O'Melveny & Myers LLP, the complaint alleges that the county's Code Enforcement Section (CES) violated the California Constitution's protections against unreasonable searches and residents' right to privacy. <...
