NCAA's $2.8B NIL settlement paves way for athlete payments

U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken approved a deal that enabled direct NIL payments to over 675,000 college athletes for their name, image, and likeness rights. It allows schools to pay athletes up to $20.5 million annually starting this fall.

Objecting attorneys had mixed feelings on Monday about the final approval of a $2.8 billion antitrust settlement between the NCAA and more than 675,000 current and former college athletes who can now be paid for use of their name, image and likeness rights.
