Disney sues Midjourney for AI-generated copyright infringement

Disney and its studios sue Midjourney in federal court, alleging the AI image generator illegally uses copyrighted characters like Darth Vader, ignoring cease-and-desist letters and profiting from plagiarism.

Disney and several of its film companies accused a San Francisco based AI image generator of willfully training its system to encourage users to create unauthorized images and videos of their most recognizable characters, according to a federal lawsuit filed on Wednesday.
