Senate committee passes labor bill with unclear mediation term

A Senate committee passed AB 288, a labor bill protecting workers' rights, but there are concerns about the undefined term, "binding mediation."

A key Senate Committee has passed a bill that is a major priority for labor groups this year.

Wednesday's hearing did not address an obscure but important issue brought up by one mediator: AB 288 would enshrine the words "binding mediation" into state law without defining the term. However, Assemblymember Tina McKinnor's office said she would soon clarify the bill.
