Justice Department sues Orange County over voter records access

The DOJ's lawsuit pertains to a request for unredacted voter records after the U.S. Attorney General received a complaint over a mail-in ballot received by a non-citizen.

The Justice Department filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday against Orange County Registrar of Voters Robert Page, alleging he violated federal election laws by refusing to provide records on non-citizen voter removals and failing to maintain accurate voter rolls.

In response, the Orange County Office of County Counsel stated that attorneys for the DOJ have failed to identify any substantive legal authority for the department's request for unredacted records.
