FAIR Plan's smoke damage policy is illegal, judge rules
A Los Angeles judge ruled the California FAIR Plan's smoke damage policy illegal, validating claims of underpaid or denied smoke-damage cases, potentially impacting thousands of lawsuits since 2017.
A Los Angeles County judge has ruled that the California FAIR Plan Association's smoke damage policy is illegal.
Judge Stuart M. Rice's ruling validates, for now, claims that the state's insurer of last resort systematically underpaid or denied smoke-damage claims.
