Apparent court muddle as opposing attorneys asked to modify unclear tentative

A Los Angeles judge is weighing whether to block Long Beach from evicting an animal protection group from a shared facility, with both sides disagreeing over whether the court's preliminary injunction should explicitly address unlawful detainer actions.

A Los Angeles judge asked an animal protection group and the City of Long Beach to collaborate Wednesday on modifying her tentative ruling after the attorneys had made opposing arguments about unlawful detainers.

After the attorneys asked for clarification and referred to a prior tentative ruling and evidentiary objections that needed to be ruled on, Judge Doreen B. Boxer apologized, said she had gotten sidetracked, needed to find the records, and took the matter under submission....
