Trial date set in legal fight over Long Beach oil project

Environmental advocates are suing Long Beach to block expanded oil storage at the port, citing health and safety concerns. A trial is set for 2026 after the city's demurrer was overruled.

The city of Long Beach is preparing to face off in court against environmental advocates over an oil storage expansion project at the nation's second-busiest port. The plaintiffs argue that the project poses unacceptable risks to surrounding communities already burdened by pollution and industrial hazards.
