Coach says he didn't know Geragos represented him till he was sued

A youth basketball coach testified that the first time he heard of Mark Geragos was when the prominent LA attorney sued him. He later found out, he said, that Geragos had worked with now-imprisoned Michael Avenatti to allegedly extort Nike, causing his own case against the company to suffer.

A plaintiff suing Mark Geragos for allegedly scheming to extort Nike on his behalf said he had no idea the prominent Los Angeles attorney was attached to his case until Geragos sued him.

Gary Franklin, proprietor of a youth basketball league, claimed in testimony Thursday that Geragos and now-imprisoned attorney Michael Avenatti had tried to extort Nike while turning down a $1.5 million settlement in Franklin's case. Franklin said he didn't even know who Geragos was.
