$6M in fees awarded in homeowner dispute, judge says defense lied

A Santa Clara judge awarded $6 million in attorney fees to plaintiffs in a six-year HOA dispute, citing deception by defendants. The case led to a State Bar complaint.

A Santa Clara County judge awarded $6 million in attorney fees to plaintiffs in a six-year dispute between a homeowner's association and two residents that saw a defense attorney referred to the State Bar.

The Rancho Palma Grande Homeowners Association in the city of Santa Clara has already been ordered to pay residents $1.8 million for water damage and mold at a condominium with a hidden well under it.
