Judge trims lawsuit over FAIR Plan wildfire cost pass-throughs

Los Angeles judge upheld Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara's authority to allow insurers in the FAIR Plan to pass wildfire assessment costs to policyholders, narrowing Consumer Watchdog's lawsuit but allowing one claim.

A Los Angeles County judge on Tuesday trimmed a lawsuit that sought to prevent the California Department of Insurance from allowing California FAIR Plan member insurers from passing assessment costs to their policyholders.
