9th Circuit chief decries attacks on judiciary: 'A dangerous inflection point'
Chief Judge Mary H. Murguia warned that threats of violence and efforts to impeach federal judges are eroding public trust and doing "profound damage" to the rule of law as she addressed the 9th Circuit Judicial Conference in Monterey.




MONTEREY - Chief Judge Mary H. Murguia told a 9th Circuit Judicial Conference that those who threaten violence or file articles of impeachment over decisions they dislike are doing "profound damage" to the nation.
"The courts' power, as you all know, comes directly from the people's trust in its integrity," Murguia said during her "State of the Circuit" address Monday. "Undermining that trust is not merely an attack on individual judges....
