Europe's latest push to align AI with copyright law
On July 10, the EU released a voluntary Code of Practice guiding AI providers on copyright compliance under the AI Act, focusing on data use, rights reservations and output safeguards for General-Purpose AI models.

On July 10, the European Commission published the General-Purpose AI Code of Practice, which provides guidance for AI providers to meet specific obligations under the European Union's AI Act. Though the Code has three chapters, this article focuses only on its copyright guidance, which applies to all General-Purpose AI models in the European Union.
