HopSkipDrive settles class action for $1.9M with $694,750 in fees

HopSkipDrive agreed to a $1.9 million settlement resolving a class action over a 2023 data breach affecting over 155,000 users, with compensation available for documented losses and 35% of the common fund in attorney fees.

The parties in a ride sharing app data breach class action in Los Angeles County Superior Court have reached a settlement that includes attorney fees of 35% of the common fund.

The plaintiffs' unopposed motion for preliminary approval proposes a $1.9 million fund to cover claims of up to $5,000 for documented losses. The agreement would allow class counsel to seek attorney fees of up to 35% of the common fund ($694,750), costs up to $50,000, and up to $2,500 in service awards...
