9th Circuit upholds UC grant injunction, but high court signals trouble ahead

A divided 9th Circuit panel rejected the Trump administration's bid to cut UC research grants tied to diversity initiatives, but a same-day Supreme Court ruling suggests the justices may ultimately side with the government.

A 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel on Thursday rejected a Trump administration request to stay a San Francisco judge's injunction blocking the cancellation of UC research grants.
