Delta Air Lines will pay $78 million to settle claims over jet fuel dumped on 38,000 Los Angeles and Orange County homes, compensating up to 160,000 residents after five years of litigation.

After five years of litigation, Delta Air Lines agreed to a $78 million settlement with property owners over jet fuel that was dumped on some 38,000 homes in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

If the deal is approved by U.S. District John A. Kronstadt next month, the class counsel will receive over $26 million in fees and costs.
