A federal appeals court has allowed California's child-protection social media law to take effect, except for one provision the panel found unconstitutional.

A 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday affirmed most of a district judge's partial denial of a technology trade group's attempt to enjoin a California social media law but postponed a key question over the statute's age-verification requirements as unripe because they do not go into effect until 2027.
