Long Beach lawyer defends multiple ADA suits amid sanctions battle

A Long Beach attorney faces sanctions over ADA lawsuits, as opposing counsel accuses him of abusive tactics and using "spotters" to target small businesses in alleged boilerplate discrimination claims.

An escalating clash over disability access to pubs in Long Beach has now turned into a sanctions fight, with an attorney who represents a wheelchair user and frequent ADA plaintiff defending his conduct against claims of abusive litigation tactics.

Brian C. Andrews of Andrews Law Group in Carlsbad insisted in a series of declarations filed in multiple cases on Wednesday that he is being punished for simply enforcing the Unruh Civil Rights Act.
